I recently had my 4-4-2 locomotive smoke generator repaired.  When I made a test run to see if everything works.  Only the whistle/horn button did not work.

I ran the locomotive in the non command mode with the Z4000 and the smoke and the W/H worked whole heartily.  What gives?

I went to reset my TMCC 4-4-2, hopefully to restore the horn key on the remote.  Now the engine doesn't reset.  But the horn sounds when ever any key is pushed, except the Horn key.  Engine doesn't respond in command.

I tried to install this engine to run in DCS.  It allows me to register to the TMCC roster.  It keeps coming up no engine on track?  I tried everything according to the Cab 1L and Base L manuals and DCS Companion manual and manual for the DCS remote.

Horn problem solved.  When GRJ suggested check another engine to see if the 0-8-0 has similar problems as the 4-4-2.  I also had the 0-8-0 manual.  Finding none.  I decided start from scratch.  GRJ also mentioned a Run/PRG problem.  Evidently, the two manuals are very similar.   The 0-8-0 manual tell how to set the Quilling  for the W/H. Following the instructions restored the W/H.

I must be missing something?  Neither engine will run in DCS?

Since you can control them from the CAB1L, I suspect you understand the TMCC ID concept.   When you add a TMCC engine, you scroll to the same number as you used to control the engine using the CAB1L.  That's really all it should take.  Since TMCC works, all the stuff about track blocks and TIU ports is moot.  The only connection that is important is the cable between the TIU and the TMCC command base.

When you have a TMCC engine selected on the DCS remote, do you see the light flash on the TMCC command base when you try to control it from the DCS remote?  If not, that tells me there's a problem with the cable connection between the two, or at least one of them has a problem with the serial port.
