This is the company.

It looks like fun, also a safer then mixing resin with nasty chemicals it.

I seen something like this before very similar but it cost 200,000,00

I believe G Lucas studios had one.

There are a few of these on the market now.  I saw something similar about 17 year ago at a high end industry trade show.  It had a 7 figure price tag and was huge.  IIRC, it actually "carved" things out of a block of some kind of resin material.  It might have used lasers; I can't remember.

Regardless, I totally want one !!!  Just think; for around $2000, I can make my own happy meal toys

Seriously, I totally want one....

Joe,

You are not dreaming and even if you think you do, it is nice to have such vision with no boundaries. The "Duplicator" machine is planned for after 2012 and will eradicate lack and greed from the face of Earth. Once everything is available almost immediately, it kills in the egg all speculations, greed, and even desires.

The funny thing is that you described the "Duplicator" in your original post as it will operate. How did you find out? The technology exists, it is not yet available to the people as it would remove the control of large corporations on the economy and behavior of the masses.

They had the "Replicator" on Star Trek years ago...

"Captain Picard and Mr. LaForge to Ten-Forward...  The replicator's stuck making O Gauge trains again...

I was just at a MAKE FAIRE in New York where MakeBot had their latest Replicator 2 (also 1k to 1.5K).  One thing that caught my eye was one of the MakeBot people had found a very old Sears Catalog which had blueprints for homes, and they re-created them in Google Sketch-up and then burned them in "S Gauge".  Wow - they are amazing.  They made the windows and doors so they could pop out and and be painted separately.  VERY IMPRESSIVE.

Man, we sure have come a 'fer piece' since the first part of the last century in this hobby.  Stanley was probably the big toolmaker for this hobby...handcrank drills, handsaws, handplanes, hand this, hand that.  Balsa wood, cardstock, tin cans flattened, soft wire, tube glue, ...all that stuff today's generation would expect to find in a museum!

If I had the money that this 3D gizmo begs for ownership, I'd try something more 'mundane' first;a CO2 Laser...to burn my own wood and cardstock structures.  I thoroughly enjoy constructiong laser-cut kits.

I know it's not a kids plaything, but at 67 years young I think this muggle could muster the means to master the machine.   They're becoming commonplace enough among new entrepreneurs in the hobby that I expect we might even see a laser cutter in the Micro-Mark catalogue someday soon.  Wouldn't that put a smile on your pumpkin??

Meanwhile, back at ye olde workbench, my antiquated tools still do an adequate...no, very fine...job to my satisfaction.

So, what's next in beam-world?  Train control?  No more "All Aboard!", but "Beam me through, Scottie!"???
