Picked up a non running Lionel 225 Alco from the Bay for a good price. I usually can save most lionel motors but this one was really messed up. It did not respond to any power applied.

Someone had epoxied the brush holder on because the screws had been broken off and when I tried to get the brush plate off it crumbled to pieces. The electrical eyelet was just glued, no electrical connection.

I dug around my parts box and came up with a Lionel GE dash 8 power truck that actually fit with a little modification and

I also had to installed a new electronic reverse "Super unit" that I had for years.

The Alco has a new hot rod look and a rear porch for easy crew access!

A short running video.

If I run across a good replacement Alco motor I may return it back to its postwar roots but

for now I'll just have fun.
