How about it Scott and Co? City of LA or SF perhaps? Post '55 "domeliner" would do nicely....

GGD, i.e. Scott Mann has been trying to figure out how to offer CORRECT Union Pacific passenger train sets, but since the UP passenger cars are/were of a completely different manufacturer/design, GGD hasn't quite figured out how to bring THOSE cars to market at a REASONABLE price.
I asked Scott this same question about a year ago and he said if he could get enough reservations he would do it. But, as HW & BM pointed out the UP cars are fairly unique. Love to see some correct UP cars instead of the generic but until then the generics will have to do.
I'm on board if they are ever produced and I know others who would be as well.

Guys,
As HW stated earlier , an Onion Pacific train has been on the want to do list for several years. One of the issues has been doing the ACF riveted cars as aluminum extrusions. However, with the advent of rivet decals this may now be a possibility.
My read is that necessary cars for a UP City train offering would be dome, dome obs, coach, diner, baggage, sleeper. I would envision this being offered as a 6 car train with extra cars available.
We need to hear from UP guys as to what would be the best 6 car configuration ie type of car, prototype builder (ACF, Budd, P-S) various sleeper configurations for a 6 car train as well as add on sleepers, etc.
Now that GGD builders have experience with dome cars (Columbian, Canadian) that also helps make a UP train more feasible.
I'd buy a set. I don't care what "City of___" they are, as long as they are UP specific.
Would love to add an excellent set of UP GGD cars to my Union Pacific fleet.
How 'bout this City of - Click on the link and enjoy.
No doubt Scott would do an excellent job with this project, should he choose to pursue it. I, for one, would definitely order a complete set of the City of whatever.
I have a copy of the "UP Lightweight Passenger Equipment" diagram book and also the "Union Pacific Streamliners" boo which I am happy to lend to get this project going.
