I found the correct hue of red for my Lionchief General, but I was wondering about how to carefully open up the locomotive shell without messing up the wires. Any tips or suggestions on how to do it?
Normally just move slow; feel for snags(rare... in general). They are normally tied down well. Take aaphoto before moving wires around (accident) never hurts.
Stuffing them back is usually the challenge. And on the older, #1 pita is aligning the smoke piston's notch over the slide/rod notch as it closes up (plus slide in two S shaped detail tubes.)
I opened up one of the new UP 119 from the Promotory sets to get to the smoke unit. I have no desire to do it again!!! While these General engines have never been the easiest, the newest LionChief ones seemed a lot worse. Your Mileage May Vary.
