I'm guessing it is obvious, but how do I find out when a Lionel Item is scheduled to ship? I'm interested in finding someone to break up this 4 car set. 6-83027

The cars have been delayed, then redesigned. You can try to call Lionel, but I have been unable to get through to Service Monday and again twice today, Tuesday February 7, 2017. I have been waiting for simple parts for three weeks. They have had my two Allegheny #1601 & 1604 since January 23, 2017. Has anyone tried reaching Lionel this week?
The Delivery Schedule has not been Updated this year yet.
You never know so when it arrives at your door, you will know it shipped.
Paul, you would do better to buy the set and you do the break up. I would bet you will make enough to pay for what you want to keep. Many things have to happen and fall in line from the time the cars leave China to predict when they get here.
John, anyone who calls Lionel does get them. I talked to Lionel today. Many stories about trying to make contact exist. Three weeks????? I get my parts in 3-4 days. What are your common parts and you should have your confirmation number?
Rail Runner, some of these 4 packs at C Ro were scheduled to ship on 12/10/16 they are now listed as 8/10/17 to ship.
Jack
Thank you everyone for the input. I should have been more specific - is there a place on the lionel website that shows delivery dates?
Marty, excellent suggestion - I may just buy the set and sell off the 21 inch cars. All I want is the 18" baggage car.
Paul - just what I need, more baggage

Fair warning... That August 2017 date was just a place-holder for all the new items catalog'd in 2016 Volume 2. The real date for any specific item remains a complete mystery until the Chinese factory ships it. Some of those 21" passenger cars have never even made their way onto the official website shipping schedule yet.

David is correct. I have all the 21 inch passenger cars on order and when they get here, they get here. I have some already that have been released and they are fantastic.
Paul, you know a guy who knows a guy.
I have the UP Excursion passenger set on order... waiting.... waiting...
However, I can wait another year, as long as it takes for them to get it right! Retooling the trucks to get the bodies down is worth the wait...
Well said. I agree.

Paul,
If you go to the Lionel Support website:
https://www.lionelsupport.com/
The shipping schedule is listed under "resources". Or go straight there with this:

Because of the volume I purchased in 2016 and the ensuing large number of repairs, I have been dealing directly with Dean through email. Any parts requests have to be funneled to parts by the service preventatives or Dean. My second Union Pacific Sound boxcar came back from its second service trip, with a broken plastic truck piece that goes into the top of the springs. My #1650 Allegheny arrived back from service with several pieces broken off the front tender truck. Lionel no longer returns items through UPS. Using FedEx now. Still items arrive back from service broken. After spending over $100K, maybe they are ignoring me. My two new Allegheny have been at Lionel since January 20th and 23rd respectively. I called several times Monday and Tuesday, February 6 and 7, 2017 and get "All Service Representatives are unavailable." The dealer who sold me both of the BTO Allegheny engines also has been unable to get through.
Marty, now that I know my layout is wired properly, and always was, I am running Dana'a Vision Line Challenger tonight. Thanks for repairing it. I switched to a new ZW-L from my MTH4000 that is still at MTH for a broken electrical post. The post on the back of the transformer broke at the hole for the wire to go through. It has been at MTH since Christmas. The more you spend, the problems you will have. I am than tired of sending new BTO engines back to Lionel. Eventually they run perfectly, but I have to be persistent in getting the service I deserve.
