I have an access hatch that swings up 90 degrees.  There is a building I want to place on it and leave it attached as it swings up.  The building will be on several layers of foam that are glued down to the hatch using liquid nails for foam.  I am debating on if I should just glue the building to the foam or have some mechanical attachment.  The building is scratch built and pretty light weight. It has a full floor so I was thinking if I do a mechanical attachment I could drill a hole on the bottom of it, use a butterfly night in the building and run a rod down though the foam to the other side of the hatch, and use a washer and nut on the bottom of the hatch.

Any suggestions on how to do this the best way?

I have two hatches and in both, the buildings I place loose on them - and take them off when I want to open them, then reposition when closed again.

Thanks

I think a mechanical connecting will work the best also.  The hatch is too far away from reach to just remove the building when I lift the hatch.
