For those of you who read the magazine in the digital format, do you like it or did you go back to reading the paper magazine?

I'm thinking of changing from a subscription to the paper magazine to a digital subscription. I really enjoy the paper magazine and I'll miss reading it that way, but my main reason for considering the change is because I'm trying to reduce my clutter and get rid of all the boxes and stacks of magazines. I asked some more technical questions in the digital subscription topic, but I don't know how many people look at that topic, so I thought I 'd get a broader cross section of replies from the main forum.

I like it a lot. You need a (roughly) 10 inch tablet to use it, so if you have a 7 or 8 inch one, I wouldn't bother. However, once you get a "full size" tablet, IMO, you can't beat the digital version. It's there, you can download it so if you're wifi only, you don't need a connection, you get back issues, you can search, it doesn't increase your clutter, just a whole bunch of things.

Strongly encouraged.

I also get both and I prefer the print version and that's the one I read. There are some extra photos and things in the digital version and it also helps support the forum here and there are some other extras for the digital version as well. The digital copy is good for reference when the print versions are upstairs somewhere and I am down at in the basement. Also good for printing out a single article or page for reference.

While I enjoy paper magazines, they take up a lot of space and it's hard to find what I'm looking for later. The digital version goes everywhere and while it can be difficult to read on smaller devices, it's not impossible. I mostly use my laptop, but I have used my 7" and 10" tablets as well as my phone, though not very often. If I see an article I want easy access too, I "print" it to a separate PDF file with an appropriate filename, like I did with Jim Barrett's series on his layout construction. The filename (article title, issue, page) makes a nice mini-index when viewed as a list in Windows Explorer.

I have been a digital subscriber for about three years now and enjoy it because of the convenience factor, the added features in the magazine as well as the special features they publish from time to time like Ed Boyle's Collector's Corner.  That being said, in some ways I miss reading the print version.  I always enjoyed sitting back in my recliner and flipping through the pages of the latest edition of OGR.  Its just not the same with an IPAD.

I guess i'm in the minority. Had Digital for a few years now and ever since I haven't read the magazine. I'm on a macbook  and I can't get a whole page big enough to read. I really should drop my subscription. keep telling my self to get a new computer but to much money. I tried to get it hooked up to my TV but computer to old. Can I be a forum member without a magazine subscription ?
