In my quest to build something that is not available, I need a Lionel powered truck.  I am familiar with a couple of the mounting styles to the frame, but I'm looking at this one which would be perfect for my build, and cannot figure out how it was mounted, unless it is missing something.  How was it attached to the chassis?

Generally motor arrangements like that mounted in sort of a "sandwich" form.  You remove the motor mount screw that holds the motor to the truck.  The truck slides under the frame and the motor clamps down from above, usually with a tension spring plate between the motor and the frame.  There should be a large enough clearance gap between the motor and the truck when it's all clamped together to allow it to freely float within the cutout of the frame.  This allows it to pivot and such for curves.
