I've some MTH locomotives with the old MT series item number, like the MT-2124LP and MT-2022L, and can't seem to get the MTH product locator feature to find them. Keeps coming back with invalid item number message. Is there some "formula" for crossreferencing these to the new item number scheme?

I believe the MT is equal to 30-,
Just try the number without the MT and the LP
or the Cab number or car body number

Those numbers are one of the first numbers they used in the mid 90's. Just replace the MT with 20 and most of the engines starting with that should show up.
As David states, substitute 20 for the MT.

Thanks!
I substituted 30 for mt to find my coal hopper. It came up.
Just use the 4 digits first. The engines should come up with the oldest closest match near the top of the list. If that doesn't work add 20, and then 30. Skip the letters. G
If the loco has QSI sounds, add a -1 behind the #, if it has a whistle only, add a -0. Don't know how much difference it makes. Most of the MT numbers are interchangeable with 20-xxxx.
