This post is about mirrors. Several years ago I went to Florida and at the Aventura Mall they had a fabulous layout. Please see the picture posted below.

I think that this is done with double mirrors? When you look inside of the highway tunnel, it looked like it went for miles. You could see all kinds of cars and if you looked long enough, you realized that this is done my MIRRORS.  I tried to look inside of the tunnel and it looks like there is a double mirror that you are looking thru on this side and maybe 4 or 5 inches behind it there is either a regular mirror or double mirror ????

Anyone out there ever do this on their layout? If so, please explain in layman's terms and give me some idea where to purchase these items. I saw this effect on this layout, and I have NEVER forgot it. Thanks in advance.

These special effect projects require the use of a regular mirror and a see through mirror.  In your pictured piece the tunnel face is the see through piece and inside the tunnel is the regular piece.  The late John Allen had a couple of these on his layout, one was the worlds bigget machine shop and the other an under ground garage.  In both cases the objects between the mirrors were painted different colors on the front and the back of the pieces (cars in the garage, men and equiipment in the machine shop).  What you saw looking one way was one color and the reflection was yet another color.  It was very effective.    Russ
