Lou,

How many can motors will be installed in the conventional version of the Goliath?

Based on the wheel arrangement for the Brute and the tinplate conventional motors aready produced by the Lionel Corp., up to six can motors could have been installed in the Brute.  Unfortunately, they weren't.

How many can motors does the LCCA plan to have the Lionel Corp install in the LCCA's conventional Goliath?  2?  3?  4?  5?  6?  If it was up to me, I'd opt for 6 as this monster engine deserves max power!

Also, while the Milwaukee Road only used their BiPolars in passenger service, for some strange reason when the conventional Brute was made the Lionel Corp installed Proto-Sound 2.0 with freight yard effects.

What Proto-Sound effects does the LCCA plan to have the Lionel Corp install in the Goliath?  Freight yard effects as in the Brute?  Or passenger station effects?  If it was up to me, I'd opt for the prototypical passenger station effects!

Another thing they did was too add marker lights. This is a great improvement to the look.

Jim,

I like that third motor!  IMHO, if you are going to spend a bunch of cash ($$$$$) to get a unique engine like the Goliath, it should be at least as powerful as the one in the video you posted otherwise it's looses some of its bragging rights.

Who owns the three engine Brute and is he a SGMA member?

Chris,

You are probably right.  But it would be nice to have at least 3 and to ensure bragging rights, at least 4 would be needed since I believe the Liberty Line BiPolars have four engines.

I would be in full agreement with Chris on this.  I can't imagine they would add more motors given the costs involved.

Allan,

You may have some insight on this.  MTH will already be spending the labor costs required to install a motorless frame with four wheels into the center section of the Goliath.  I can't imagine the cost of installing a complete motor instead would be that much more though the wiring would be more complex.

Alternatively, MTH will already be paying the labor costs to install motor frames with one can motor on each end of the Goliath so installing motor frames with two can motors on both ends shouldn't be that much more expensive as they could install the same motorless frame in the center section.  That would yield a Goliath with 4 motors like the Liberty Lines BiPolar and eliminate the need for significantly more complex wiring to deal with a center section motor.

Any idea of how much the additional costs might be for either option?

The marker lights really dress up the engine. The LCT Brute modeled after the prototype did not have them. This is Doable as the part is off the shelf.

The LCT Brute came with PS-2 or Dummy. Not sure of the track gauge of the dummy.
