I am proud to say that I am a member also. This is a first class PROGRESSIVE organization that promotes our hobby very effectively. Very neat products and as Ben has said, some of the nicest people in the hobby that administer this organization.

I highly recommend it to those who are not members.

Yes, I'm a member (TCA, also). Been to a couple of LCCA conventions - one so long

ago we toured the Lionel factory in Michigan.

Bought a couple of LCCA specials - the die-cast 0-4-0 was a steal. Keep 'em coming (I

want my re-issued 221 steamer!).

I don't really "do" anything with either group (York, once), but it keeps me in touch with

a few things. The LCCA magazine is often very child-oriented; not being a parent, I really

don't care for a lot of it - but there are other things there. The LCCA is certainly worth

$35.00 per year. (How much did that steak and a couple of drinks run you last

night?)

Lionel typically sends catalogs to our most current LCCA member roster list. .These catalogs are compliments of Lionel.  They may cross reference specific groups and send one catalog/person.

And yes, I think the $35/membership fee is worth it.   The dues can be more then offset by the savings incurred; if you purchase some Lionel products that are offered during LCCA special sales.  You can also check out some of our exclusive LCCA videos in the video gallery section on our website www.lionelcollectors.org.  We have Facebook pages for our adult regular members and one for our Junior Members.  We have a very close working relationship with Lionel and we work together on many projects.  For instance, the Lionel FasTrack Modular Railroad standards was developed by a committee of LCCA  members.   There are numerous benefits for belonging to our all volunteer club.  Most of all,we have FUN!   If anyone has any questions or needs more info, please call  me at 248 709-4137.

I'm a long time member of TCA and I joined LCCA 4 years ago and never regreted that decision. My wife and I have attended many TCA national conventions and every LCCA convention has more than measured up. We have always had a great time and we made many new friends. In Dallas and also Norfolk, LCCA made a great effort to help the local Boy Scouts obtain their railroading merit badge. My wife and I, along with many others volunteered to help and close to 200 Scouts obtained their badges at the Norfolk convention. LCCA's close relationship with Lionel has enabled many young children to bring home a new train set from the convention. LCCA opens their convention train display to the general public and actively promotes the convention on local TV. For those who are concerned about the "graying of the hobby" LCCA's efforts are a positive step in reaching out to the younger generation and it makes me proud to be a member.

Least you think only the kids have fun, rest assured that us "big kids" have plenty adult fun too!

I joined in the  past year. I was at a small train show in Crown Point, Indiana, and ran into Mr. Devito (sp?), who was the club president at the time. We talked for a while, about Lionel trains and the LCCA.

I was impressed that this guy showed up at a small (2 dozen vendors, give or take) show and talked with anyone who wanted to. I sent in the application a week or so later ,which is a decision I do not regret.

It's a great club! "The Lion Roars" is always informative, usually has something of interest for even the most discriminating of those in the hobby, is well written and has great photos. Lou Caponi, Al Kolis, et al, are extrordinarily knowledgable and truly dedicated to the sustainability and promotion of O gauge model railroading. Their many yearly functions are geographically diverse (giving more people in more places more train fun), educational, and ALWAYS worth attending. I am proud to call myself an LCCA member.
