When I asked the question about how many Weaver wood chip hopper were made I was able to get all but three. Now my question is how many TOFC flat cars were made. I am looking for their initial in house run of them. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks Paul

In excess of 120 including different car numbers of the same trailer/road name. Not sure of the exact number. I suspect only Weaver knows for sure.

Pete, I have to say I was not ready for that number. I thought I had done good with 25 so far. I saw by your profile you Live in the Rochester NY area I remembered back when I lived in Western New York I was a member of the TTCA ( pretty sure they were called that ) and they always had a show in that area outside of Rochester, I think it was held in a dome type building, by the Thruway. But I appreciate the information. Thanks Paul
Paul, I missed the "excluding special runs" part. My number includes special runs like the TCA, METCA, CTTA, etc cars. I am not a collector per se but have a friend who collects these. My collection consists of those with New York Central Flats. Weaver did 5 or 6 for themselves then one NYC for TCA National and 3 for METCA. May be more but those are the only ones I am aware of.
Someone who collects the Weaver Catalogs might be able to give you a better idea what Weaver sold directly.
Pete
I know that was one of the most successful projects they did. Every time I went down, they were doing another run. They even offered the trailers as a separate sale item.

I fell in love with them and started buying them from a vendor at York and of course right after I started wanting them, Weaver was gone!! Oh well!
Paul, I am Pete's friend who collects Weaver TOFC. I have been collecting them from the begin and have talked to Joe and Gary for years on what was being made. There was 23 different RR named TOFC with a minimum of three numbers of each made. This excluding ~ 27 special runs cars and ~ six cars in the catalog that Weaver did not make. Overall Weaver made ~ 175 unique cars.
As a member of FCTT HiRailers, I have run 50 plus TOFC car trains at some of our shows. Also, at the fall 2015 York Show, one of the trains that we ran on our layout in the White Hall was a Weaver TOFC train with ~ 45 different RR TOFC cars.

Tom, thanks for that information. It has been a journey to find them at train shows. Question for you. Would you know where or who might have parts for those cars. I have three partials ones I would like to make into a complete TOFCs. Any help appreciated.................Paul
The product line listings on the old Weaver website may be helpful.
I thought there was bunch of them for sale on the forum within the last month.

Paul, you may want to contact Bob Lavezzi to inquire about the spare parts. He purchased a lot of Weaver's spare parts inventory when they were liquidating everything.
I saw him at a train show here in MA in October and he had a TON of Weaver parts inventory! I don't know if he had any TOFC car parts specifically as I wasn't looking for them. It's certainly worth a shot to contact him. You should be able to get his info via a Google search.
Paul, I have been looking myself for parts. When Weaver was closing, Joe sold me a small amount of parts to repair my TOFC. At that time there was a large amount of parts that someone now has. The question is who now has that inventory.

Tom, send me your email and I can tell you what I found out. My email is pstackow@yahoo.com......Paul
