I recently acquired a conventional (1999) Lionel scale 4-4-2 Atlantic. Great little loco. But the start speed is very high with all the different transformers I use (MTH Lionel and MRC) So I searched the OGR posts and found a few methods that folks here had contributed. Dale H had a method of using 8 6amp diodes wired between DCU and motor. And since this loco has one motor the 'series' method will not work. Another was some thermal limiters on the motor.

So my question is has anyone modified a Lionel 4-4-2 Atlantic and had go results?? Which method used or one of your own? Thanks!
