Hi. I have several steam engines, MTH, Lionel and Williams. Being that I'm kinda new, what would be the best oil/lube to use when oiling a steam engine? Where on the bottom would be the best place to oil? Thanks for your help.

It depends upon exactly what locomotive(s) you have; they're not all the same. Most do not have specific lube types required, but some do. Your best bet is to do exactly what your owner's manual says.
I oil anything that moves... Side rods. pistons, eccentric crank ,, axle bearings, Pin on center rail pick ups. Pony truck and trucks below the cab. I've been using 3 in 1 with a tooth pick to apply since I was a kid and a soft cloth to wipe any excessive oiling.
