How to plan your benchwork for future expansion

I plan on using the Atlas track I have now, and either Gargraves or Ross track to complete the layout. I was planning on running roadbed such as cork or the foam roadbed. Would this potentially eliminate the need for Homosote, or is this in conjunction with? Thanks

IMO, cork + homasote is redundant.
