Is there anybody out there that has instructions on prewar body soldering. I have a combo car that has broken solder joints on the floor. The paint is nice, so I don't want to mess it up.

Therein lies the rub! Soldering requires a clean bare surface and heat. The best bet is resistance soldering as that will do the least amount of paint damage as it concentrates the heat in one small place.
That's what I was afraid of. I was thinking of possibly using jb weld sparingly. It would be hidden up underneath on the floor to wall seam. I know it wouldn't be proper, but it would keep from wrecking the paint.
Go with the JB and a soft clamp, let cure at least 24 hours . Should be good!

Thanks John. Will do.
FWIW, I use JB-Weld when the repair is out of sight for brass locomotive repairs. I don't want to solder as that would require paintwork.
