How to Reset if possible a Brand New PS3 Genset from Mr. Muffins Trains | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a brand new from Mr. Muffins Trains a PS3 Genset 20-21701-1, I believe this was a Special Run, that I ran around the club layout just to test it out and then when I went to run it at home on my layout, the DCS controller keeps telling me that it is not on the track. I powered down the controller, then the transformer and TIU then took the locomotive off the track and reset it back on and made sure it was on correctly. I powered everything back up again and still get the same message on the controller"Not on the track." I even put another MTH locomotive on the track and it ran perfectly.

I checked the manual that came with the engine and found nothing that addressed this situation, I discussed this with a fellow club member and he told me to reset the engine. Would someone please tell me how this is done, otherwise, I'm going to pack it back up and send it back to Muffins. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

They stand behind their sales, they're responsive and easy to work with, and they're probably open today so you should get a quick response.

Ever think about Googling how to reset a MTH PS3 engine? Plenty of stuff there, including videos on how to do it.

More important- did you do the first 2 common sense tests?

#1 attempting conventional operation without a DCS signal

#2 attempting to re-add the engine to the remote?

Does it have a DCS/DCC switch? Is it in the DCS position? I agree to test conventionally to see if it runs. G

George is onto a possible solution. Most Premier models have a DCS/DCC switch and it'll do nothing if it's switched to DCC.
