For a while I had a batch of old prewar Lionel switches (from an estate) but I sold them off because I was already overloaded with projects. I remember we had some green switches like this stored in the basement when I was a kid but we were only running HO trains at the time.

The thing that I wonder about is the deep center rail gaps through the switch. Would they snag some center-rail pickups? I didn't get around to fixing up any of these to try them out. I have enough postwar track in operation to keep me busy. But these prewar switches have a definite vintage character.

I did keep a batch of Standard Gauge track with four manual switches. If I ever get around to restoring them! I don't have any Standard Gauge trains (yet?).

Ace,

The old 021's were not all that reliable, however the 711's built just a little later

were excellent pre-war Lionel switches.  However they take massive power to operate correctly.  Use LED's in them and power them from their own transformer and they operate perfectly, I used them for many many years, and still own them today.  IMO the 711's were the best switches Lionel ever made until they engineered the new low voltage Command Control FasTrack switches.
