Thinking about getting one, but before making a several-hundred-dollar mistake, I'd like to hear about anyone else's experiences with running Proto 1 engines using a Lionel ZW-L. Thanks.
Let me preface this by saying my understanding is the ZW-L is the same as the ZW-C, only with the transformers built in. I have a ZW-C and a small fleet of PS-1 locomotives. It ran them all fine. When using the Cab 1 remote, programing them when in reset was so easy and nice, especially for reset 40. I did have a couple of the locomotives that required a lighted caboose or passenger car on the track to keep the horn from blowing, but that is not an issue for me as I run every freight train with a caboose. But if you have a DCS magic light already then it's a non-issue. Therefore I would have no qualms about buying a ZW-L if I needed another ZW for power needs.
