I posted something here recently about converting my scale GG1 from paralle to series l wiring of the motors. It made a huge improvement its its running. Thought I took a picture but maybe not. Anyway, really easy.
I also posted pictures of it as the loco in the thread below. I removed the pantographs and rep-ainted it in military. I think it looks stunning like that. No other mods, although to think about it, I wish I had added a gun turret.
I have converted many of these to PS-2. They are easy to work with and run fantastic. The Williams G motor will run on 0-42 curves. This gives people with less than 0-72 a very good locomotive.

agreed. PS2 went in, in an evening and it runs very smoothly and can pull a ton
I have one that I had repainted and renumbered as the famous "Black Jack". I also had it upgraded to TMCC and EOB years ago. It runs extremely well.
