I haven't posted in a long time, I've been quite busy working on the mine car with two of my sons. All the straightening is done, and all the metal replacement and repair is done. The car is now at the Miners' Memorial Park in Ashley Pa awaiting the beams for the sill, and the lumber for the sides and ends. The car has come a long way since it was first delivered to a storage garage at St Leo's Church where we worked on it mostly on Saturdays whenever the weather was somewhat tolerable. Work time increased as the weather warmed, and last weekend on a mostly rainy Saturday, my oldest son Don provided the truck, and work provided the trailer. The wheels came from dismantled a stage the band used to use at the school district I work for. It took the better party of an hour to attach the wheels, and gradually lower the car 8 inches at a time at each end until the wheels rested on the ground. We used a come along to ratchet the car into the trailer, and gravity did its job to remove the car at the park.
