My life has come to a hult for a few weeks.  Had to have unexpected  Laminectomy  disc L4-5. Surgery  Tuesday  home yesterday.  Sore and board. Can only sit 30 minutes  at a time. Walk as much in the house as I want.  So the holidays will be different  but there are many that have bigger issues than this. Back to Doctor  on 2 weeks post  op check start physical therapy.  Will be allowed to  do more then.

Stop at Kennywood  and see our modular display at Holiday Lights.

I had exactly the same surgery in 2000. Best thing I've ever done.  I was on my back 2 weeks at a time 2-3 weeks a year for 5 years before. Then I blew it out sneezing! Since then I ski frequently, been on multiple 100 backpacking trips in NM and have even repelled. Only down side is I was laying in the hospital during the 2000 World Series. My wife and kids got to use my tickets.

Good luck with the recovery. It to me a little while but I was better than new after it.  I can even crawl under the layout without an issue.

Good Luck

Hey Thom - I feel your pain, literally. Hope you get relief and can enjoy the holidays.  I had fusion of L5/S1 three years about (almost to the day).  I've done very well with it and have been pain free most of the time, but started some intermittent pain a year ago due to bone spurs in that segment's foramen. It's gotten pretty bad the last couple of weeks....no back pain, just leg. Had an MRI this morning and am expecting to need a foraminotomy to "clean things up" in the next month or two, so I'm rushing to get my new layout done. Not looking forward to another surgery, but the doc says this is minor compared to fusion.  Best wishes to you on a full recovery.
