I saw some pictures of the new Lionel NYC Niagara and it is pretty sweet. But to my surprise I would not buy the black version. I would buy the grey version, yes I know it's not prototyipical but to me it looks great. Although the Niagara is out of my price range.

Take a look at it below and make your own opinion.

I love the fantasy schemes, as long as they are PLAUSIBLE.

example of something not good:  lionel burlington black and grey scheme on a SD80Mac.  First off, cb&q didnt exist when sd80macs were out.  It makes no sense.

Example of something good...  a railroad that operated at same time as the engine, and has similar equipment and same schemes.  Like this niagara in the grey.

One of my favorite fantasy engines is the DM&IR scheme on the EM1 tooling.  I have this engine and LOVE it.  Some of us like cool looking plausible trains.

I got mine last week and it is everything everyone said above and more.  The smoke features work flawlessly.....so glad Lionel got that right. I have to say this is even more fun to run than my Big Boy.

Lionel hit it out of the park with the features and the Fantasy paint job.

There are certain engines that are “must haves “ in our collections......this is one of them!

It's a really cool scheme for sure.
