I don't buy fantasy schemes when it comes to my locomotives, BUT......

I wince every time Lionel announces one of these fantasy schemes, but I will admit this one is the best of the lot.

I agree. A Fantasy paint job, but what could have and should have been in my opinion. Looks fantastic.

I think it looks great.

I don't collect new York central but this is a temptation to get out of the box!

Couple of things... first I am not a big fan of steam and second I am not a NYC fan.

However, I will admit that if one of our club members were to by one and run it on our club layout I would enjoy watching it.  I also believe it would draw a lot of interest from our visitors.

When I first saw this at YORK I was in awe.  Man it sure is Purdy!!!!  I'm thinking of adding this one.

Out of my price range but as stated above a shoulda woulda coulda that is very attractive and if it was in the 400 -500 range a definite gonna.

I love the fantasy schemes, as long as they are PLAUSIBLE.

example of something not good:  lionel burlington black and grey scheme on a SD80Mac.  First off, cb&q didnt exist when sd80macs were out.  It makes no sense.

Example of something good...  a railroad that operated at same time as the engine, and has similar equipment and same schemes.  Like this niagara in the grey.

One of my favorite fantasy engines is the DM&IR scheme on the EM1 tooling.  I have this engine and LOVE it.  Some of us like cool looking plausible trains.

I got mine last week and it is everything everyone said above and more.  The smoke features work flawlessly.....so glad Lionel got that right. I have to say this is even more fun to run than my Big Boy.

Lionel hit it out of the park with the features and the Fantasy paint job.

There are certain engines that are “must haves “ in our collections......this is one of them!

It's a really cool scheme for sure. 

I think if it looks good and could have been done, then why not. I am not sure about everyone else, but I plan on getting this MTH S-2 Turbine in T-1 livery. I think it looks great!

I wouldn't exactly call that Niagra's paint job a "fantasy."  Maybe "extraprototypical" would be more accurate.  A GG1 painted for D&RGW would be "fantasy" to me.

Maybe great northern would be better.  I would reject DRGW, they didnt have electrofied...

I flipped a coin on this one. The grey could of been on the drawing boards as to a what if . The black version won out for me......Paul

Mine was the USRA 2-6-6-2 for the New York Central. They didn't have one of these, but a different 2-6-6-2, but I still had to get it. Should be arriving soon from what I heard.

Vaguely reminiscent of UP's 'Greyhound' scheme that IS prototypical.  Very nice looking David.

I dunno, Coach, that GG1 with the NYC lightning bolt colors looks pretty good to me.  Just imagine that the Central had expanded their electric operations.  And that the PRR sold them some surplus GG1s...

I never pay attention to if it's scale, prototypical or anything other than if it appeals to me and if it will go with my scheme. 

Dave , I like it but it is out of my price range as well. I like black engines but also like red, blue, green and white. Yellow is my favorite color but don't have a yellow engine yet. I do have a yellow Camaro though. 

Balshis I do believe it is a stunner but you know that PRR - NYC rivalry still lives on and Pennsy fans just cringe whenever someone desecrates a GG1 and NYC Lightning stripes is sacrilege.
