Just checked out their site. Oil pumps? Dipsticks? Wow, quite the gearboxes there. An ambitious project, for sure.

I am assuming you have to remove the body shell to access the gearbox dipsticks, on a super detailed model this does not sound practical or easy, just saying !

That's one way of looking at it, however the drive is warrantied by ECS/Midwestern and if you open or disassemble anything for any reason that warranty is void.

Im trying to figure out how to get the LOKSound to run all those lights and the fans

Hi Matt

It's really simple if you piggy back function decoders on to it.  My G scale RS-2 has two x four [function only] TCS decoders, piggy backed on to a Loksound XL sound decoder.

The smoke unit has two fans.  One runs off a piggy backed decoder to give idling smoke supply and the other fan is linked to the motor output so the smoke increases as you open the throttle.

That still leaves the seven functions, plus the four on the XL for cab, number, head, Mars, step lights, etc.

Does that help?

Cheers

I'll have to see the loco and drive before I go deep in how to do it. There's something like 37 LEDs and bulbs in the loco so maybe the way he has it with his lighting system in conjuction with the ESU decoder is the best option. I'm just spit balling ideas here cuz the models aren't here yet so it's all just speculation.

I was aware that this was their policy, so this feature is for "factory" service.

37 LED's??!!!   Wow!   I have not been following this product too much because it is just flat out of my reach right now, but I must say these are going to be the models that clearly set the bench mark.....pretty darn high...!  I'm really looking forward to all the pics/videos of these when they arrive.

You should have figured out he wasn't going to answer several requests above.  The best thing to do is just let it go.  Whether or not he [personally] really has any reserved or what arrangements he might have is nobody's business but his and maybe MMW's or Caboose Hobbies, for whom he might have reserved some.  And no, if I were MMW I would not give out that information either.  Any customer related info is business confidential and privacy information.

True.  Customer related info is business confidential.

Chris, you should follow these because he wants to follow up with an SD40-2 and he's planning a museum version or super premium version with a prime mover inside all all the doors will open

You know I think I will, if...I can get a head in the Train budget a bit then maybe I could get in on the SD40-2's.  I'm going to stop by his table at the March Meet and get some information on the project from him.

RDUNIII, I have two TCS WOWSound decoders one diesel and one steam and I'm really impressed with the sound quality and programmability of them. I run a fair amount of HO with my dad and have a decent amount of N scale to play with too. I really love doing sound installs and setting up my own stuff. I can go the extra miles for me when I'm not charging for the work. I still like the ESU because of the programmability of them and the need for only one decoder. I'm really impressed with the LOKSound setup. Great sound and excellent motor function in a very affordable package.

A great deal of "surgery" has been done on this thread to remove personal attacks and other things totally unrelated to the subject of this thread. Matt...are you listening?

We are growing tired of your antagonistic posting style, Matt. Keep it up and you'll find yourself in moderation, where we will review every post you make before it goes live...when we get around to it.

Do you really want to be on the outside looking in?
