I saw this in the new issue of CTT and wishing that I had a grandchild so I could have a reason to buy this.

Looks pretty nifty to me. Wonder if it will hold 180 lbs?
I know the feeling! Consider purchasing it anyway, then give it to a needy child at Christmas.
My wife and I are fortunate to live near a Canadian Pacific crossing that was originally built by the Milwaukee Road. I take photos of the passing trains from time to time and send them to her 2 year old grandson in Atlanta. I keep threatening to get him a starter HO set for Christmas.

I would not trade any of mine. Their parents on the hand.....................
I have a Grandson and the problem is he's growing up. Interests change - he's gone from playing trains with me to Boy Scouts to Girls. He's lost interest in trains and I am afraid when train interests return, I'll just be a memory.
I have 9 (7 from our 4 kids, 2 from a foster child), 5 girls and 4 boys, ranging from 2 years-old to 16. The soon-to-be 8 year-old boy used to be into toy trains...but not so much now. I will be with 6 of them for a overnighter in Strasburg August 6,7. We have had this Strasburg outing for the past 12 years ( and I made my own kids go when THEY were little).
I don't have any grandchildren yet, but I've "adopted" a couple. I have a couple of friends whose daughters have kids and are divorced. I've known the mums since they were kids, so being a pretend grandad gives the child a bit of male company, gives me an excuse to give the kids some trains, and we all have some fun.
Unfortunately no kids or grand kids but 29 nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews all of whom make their way to the train house on every visit. About 10 to 12 neighborhood kids and 10 or so church kids who all make regular visits to see the trains. I have an outdoor riding train that they all love as well. Guess this will be the next addition to train experience at Uncle Steve's house.
I have 4 1/2 You can send me as many of those you want and I will hold them for you I purchased this one at York a couple of years ago for number one. It was too heavy to use thought
Glenn:
He is way too big for this riding toy, but I'll loan my 19 year old to you so long as you agree to pick up his car insurance tab.

I've been "hemming and hawing" over this one. Our first grandchild is due in January and I thought about getting it and putting it away for him/her. After seeing this thread, my wife and I have convinced ourselves to go ahead and do it.
This thread gave us the little extra nudge we needed.
Thanks, I think.
Interested in a 22, a 20 & a 19 year old? Not much use for anything really, but you may get a kick out of them (or at them).
I know of someone who might have one for rent!
