Ok, you got me, where are the boats?
In the containers. Longest freight in the history of the New England Central!
Jon
Jon:
Where was all of this stuff being moved from?
Curt
Newport, RI to the Providence & Worcester, to the New England Central. Canadian National picks it up in Saint Albans, VT and takes it to Chicago. I'm assuming the Union Pacific to San Fran?
Jon
Jon,
do you know whether the cotainers hold the AC45 Catamarans, used for the trial racing, or the larger AC75 Cats to be used during the actual cup races?
Thanks Jon!
Looking at PRRMan's avatar and wondering how he knows this stuff LOL
I assume it will come via UP wonder if I will hear about it as it passes through. The main dock they are using is right across the street from a condo my family owns in The City. Been getting pics of the dock under construction (and the big fire) sent to us
Jon,
Are double stacks not allowed in your part of the country?
The New England Central is in the middle of fixing the clearances along the line for Double-Stack duty. There are a ton of turn-of-the-century truss bridges and a tunnel in Bellows Falls that will need fixing. I know they lowered the tunnel floor, but I'm not clear on how may other obstacles are still in the way.
They had a lot of the work done, but Irene wiped much of it away last Summer.

I'm guessing the AC45's based on the size of the boxes. Although if given my druthers, I'd prefer they use New York 50's (Modern rigs of course!)

Boy that was one long train for VT. Did it scare the cows into producing sour milk and wake farmer joe up? LOL

What graceful looking boats!
I miss the days when the raced monohulls.

Jon,
nice pix of the NY 50's.
that's when sailboats were manly and the origin of the term BOOM came about. meaning you'd better duck!
whenever I look at the older designs, I can't help but think of all the manpower it took to sail those beauties.
ready boys?... tack!
