Pleasr forgive me as I’m niot too familiar with 2 Rail scale- but have some experience l(Rivarossi DB engine and some early atlas and Kusan).

To the point, for over 2 years I’ve looked at this car and finally got it at 50% off last night. Im trying to identify the maker and time period it was made.

Side one, heavy on the decals. Clear plastic window inserts , non-opening doors

Side2(flash on) more of an accurate representation of the color. Words in Decals include “streamline” “postal Express” “ baggage” Pennsylvania “ “ACF(Chicago plant)”.  This dude came without the baggage door D3E7B71F-6E53-4AF4-9127-3A46EA0AF4D2

bottom: wood (Masonite ?) I assume the couplers are earkyvKadee typeEFE895BD-7C79-40BB-B7DA-5E3D7C5E3832

sorry for not having side shots. The sides are solid dark gray- just like the roof- with a cast-in /molded-in door that has separately applied grab irons on both sides of The doors on both ends

like I said, I’ve admired this piece for awhile and would like to know it’s history. I checked Walthers and Athearbvl and after that, in my searching, names such as Hermicker, Kasiner, Thomas and EP have come up. Kasiner seems to be the best bet but I hsavent found any 2 Rail o scale cars, yet, with a body like this guy/‘- even in unfinished form .

Any help or direction is greatly appreciated!!

Steve

@bob2 I don’t build kits of model trains nor do I collect fhem, although I do have some that I end Up in my consists every now and then.

After looking up B-C models and comparing the car I’d say you’re correct. I also believe, after seeing other variation, that the model wasn’t put together by the world’s finest toy train kit builder ha.

I haven’t been able to find when these have been manufactured? I saw something Hinting at the 60s?

I think it's a Chester Industrial Arts car, built from a kit. I still have four of these "shorty" version kits looking for a home. The sides are rolled aluminum, so you can verify this with a magnet. If it sticks then it's likely a cut-down/shortened BC models, if it doesn't , it's a Chester.

They're not that easy to build but make a decent looking car if you have a modicum of experience with BC-M's or Walthers kits (composite material, wood roofs and floors, metal sides etc. )
