Hi All,
I purchased 12 of Weaver model trains telephone poles. Does anyone have any suggestions on weathering these poles?
I have tried some weathering solutions ex: grey, grey and black Etc, the only thing I can accomplish is that it does wash ou the shinny area of the stem however you cannot see any aging color.

Sand and scribe using heavy grit sandpaper,stain and paint black (to look like tar) to bottom area.

What is scribe? Also, any suggestions on the manufacture for the black tar paint?
Since I have a black wash already made up, could this also be used?

Make verticle wood grain marks.
Apply light stain.
Paint bottom with black paint 3/4" up.
