They are what they are. There are friendly one's, arrogant one's, some that think there trains are worth 5X more than the going price. Those trains have been sitting on there tables for the past 10 years. There are those that never stay at there table. There are those that don't want you to touch anything on there table, and there is one guy in the blue hall that has all his trains wrapped in saran wrap. You can't give any of the sellers advise. Most have been selling at meets for 20 to 30 or more years. There are some you can ditter price with , and others that won't budge.
I've never run into a seller at York that I felt negative about. Even Moonson (Frank) is nice to me, although all I ever bought from him was a weathered pickup truck.
Moonson, Where is your booth?

Frank: I thought I remembered you telling me at the October York that you were getting out of the business?????

As a vendor's helper, I try to be friendly to everyone. It doesn't cost a thing to smile. Hey, if we don't have what you're looking for; I hope you find it some where else in the halls. Stop back by and let us know how you made out.
The best part of helping out is I can stay in one place and sooner or later, I get to see most or all of the friends I've made on this forum and at the show.
I'm with Chuck on this one. Just can't figure out why so many people who are cranky are still doing it? Helping out at a vendors booth is a great way to see all the old (and getting older every year)familiar faces, catching up, and making folks happy with good deals. So smile, talk, and make sure folks are happy to give you their money. So happy, that they come back again in 6 months too give you more!
when someone is flashing cash take it!!!! be flexible its a buyers market

I've seen him at several Yorks! He's got the freshest trains of all the vendors!
I've only run across a few that I didn't care for their attitudes mostly grumps but there was one guy tried to sell me a Delaware and Hudson diesel after I told him I was looking for a Blue Comet, his big sales point was "It's blue"
A side note,I wasn't planning to go to York this spring but since I need to use up 4 vacation days before the end of April I'm off on those days so maybe...
But my wife was saying something about several hunder pounds of mulch and planting potatoes and other early crops.

Be kind to the buyers. Especially at a big meet like York, there are other places that we can go to buy the exact same item. I am thinking of a well respected parts supplier to was a complete jerk to me, so I support his competitors.
Also, be honest with the buyers. If something does not work, tell them. I had a seller sell me an item which he claimed worked, but when I got home, it wasn't even wired up correctly! That taught me "buyer beware"
I'm glad to know that he continues to offer his amazing modeled scenes.

Hey Frank53, It's nice to see the treasures from your remarkable layout are selling so well on your thread (of course they would,) and yes, I'm still at it, kept in the action by the very pleasant reception of my "Insta-Ramas", so I am really ready for the adventure of April York 2013.
And I hope Walt and EddieG and everybody else will come by the booth to say hello. It's conversation that's an especially pleasant part of the overall experience; plus, the honor of knowing folks are taking my creative efforts home to their personal layouts is what keeps pulling me back into the Orange Hall to the same (thanks TCA) spot, twice a year. I began loading up my bucket-o-bolts today, a little bit at a time.

Well, that's a little more than a hug, EddieG; let's not get sloppy/slurpy.
