#1 Michigan Model Train Center (Pinckney).  They are in the process of liquidating their stock and have some really good deals.

#2 Wild Bill's Trains (Clinton Twp.)  Excellent selection and some older hard to find stuff.

#3 P & D Hobby (on Groesbeck just a few miles from Wild Bill's)  Prices aren't stellar but they do have a lot of neat stuff as well as detail parts galore.

If you are headed north...

#4 Junction Valley (Bridgeport)

#5 Brasseur (Saginaw).

There are a number of smaller shops scattered around and I certainly don't mean to neglect them but it would take quite a bit of time to "make the rounds".

Merri-Seven trains in Livonia might be worth a visit.  I know they had a ton of stuff last time I was there.

Chi-Town Union station isn't a hobby shop, but it's a huge two rail O scale layout.

Never been to this one, but the Detroit Model railroad club has a huge 2 rail layout in the former Holly Theater in Holly, MI.

Glancy trains display at the Detroit Historical museum might be a good one too.

Just went online, looks like the owner of Michigan Model Train Center passed and they are closing their doors.  Only open on weekends now.

I'll have to try the other two.

Thanks!

Skip passed away last year but Charly and his son Mike are busy selling off his massive inventory.  If you can't visit the store, check out their deals.  If you don't see something you are looking for, ask.

There are two "Riders" in Michigan.  The one in Flint is still open and has an excellent selection.  I believe it is under different ownership than the others.  The others have been closing down and/or getting rid of their train inventory.  If you are headed to Brasseur's stop by Rider's in Flint.  Ask for Ken Deming.  He is a forum member.

There is a Riders in Grand Rapids also.

If you are headed East on I-94, when passing through Kalamazoo, you can take Sprinkle Road south to the Nash Avenue-S Avenue intersection. Turn right on Nash, head to East Shore Drive on Austin Lake. Turn left on East Shore Drive to reach The Train Barn. Seth Geim is selling the remaining O gauge stock at 40% off the MSRP or sticker price. He is though only open on Friday from 1-5 PM and Saturday from 10-5 PM. It depends on your trip timing if you can make it.
