Today we went to see the Imax movie, "Rocky Mountain Express" which is all about the building of the Canadian Pacific Railroad.  It is really good and uses a restored CP 4-6-4, class H1b Hudson at the point of a train for all the scenes.  I recommend you go see it.

I concur that the film is definitely worth seeing. I just returned home from the ARM/TRAIN conference in Montreal. One evening the conference attendees were treated

to a private showing of the film at the science center there. We were honored to have the film maker Stephen Low intro his film. Then after seeing it in 70mm IMAX, he gave us a PowerPoint presentation about making the film. We saw behind the scenes pictures of his crew at work and some of the special camera rigs used and improvised. All the while he spoke about what it was like to shoot the film. There were some interesting stories. All I can say further is WOW!

A couple of nights later, the annual banquet of the conference was held, and I found myself at a table with fellow trolley museum representatives and Mr. Low. It was another opportunity to discuss the film and the work of producing it. He is a fascinating gentleman to meet and it made for a wonderful evening. Here is something you may not realize about Mr. Low, he worked for the Canadian Pacific as a brakeman for a while and is a rail enthusiest. Among the topics of conversations were future film projects and dreams. Judging from what I heard, I hope he find the funding needed to pursue them. Without betraying anything further, we all really like one of them. Anyone got a few millions to invest in a couple more IMAX rail films.

For those who are unfamiliar with the film, here is a link to a preview posted by Stephen Low's film company on You Tube.
