A guy told me, whimsically and long ago, that Texans and railroaders can always find one another in a crowd.  There's truth in it.

Earlier in December, my wife and I were on vacation in New York City, and I was wearing a BNSF hoodie while walking in lower Manhattan. My wife noticed another fellow who was walking the other direction point out my hoodie to his wife, so my wife turned and asked him if he was a railfan.  "No," he replied, "but I work for BNSF Railway." Margie told him that I was a BNSF retiree, so we howdied and shook right there in New York.  He is a Corridor Superintendent, and was formerly assigned as Superintendent of Operations on the Ex-BN (Fort Worth & Denver) line that comes through Amarillo.  He is well acquainted with our son, who is Director of Safety - Operations, at Fort Worth, and we had a number of common co-workers.

You just never know where it will happen, do you?  I probably missed some former Erie men in the crowd, but, oh, well, that might be a little more difficult to accomplish.
