I'm sure many of us ask this for engines that came before the fan-driven smoke unit. I ask this now since most of my primary engines made by Lionel during the late 80's and early 90's, such as the 1990 scale Hudson, are kind of poor smoke puffers, or that sometimes they smoke well, sometimes they don't smoke at all. I sometimes find that a different transformer may affect this - transformers that give more voltage make the engines smoke better.
I have heard that TM modified at least one engine with an older Postwar pellet smoke unit. I'm not sure if the "Puff-and-Chuff" boards are good only for can-motored command equipped. Anyone have ideas or advice?
