Just another fan letter!...As some of you may recall, Alex Malliae upgraded the smoke on my N&W Warhorse J, a task deemed to be impossible by Lionel.  It turned out a different resistor than the one originally selected had to be used.  That was no problem for Alex.  Then we lost the chuff due to a bad reed switch.  Alex sent me the parts and walked me through the installation.  I learned a few things in the process. Now, the Powhattan Arrow runs great, sounds great, and smokes up the countryside.

Many thanks.

Add my admiration for Alex too. Only met him briefly at York but I could sense his warmth and gift of personality.

Here a shot of a No 611 J I obtained from him that had been modified with better smoke and 4 chuffs. It's a favorite of ours and pictured here running on the club layout a few months ago. Check the smoke!

Thanks Sam for the kind words, that is one awesome J, that's one engine I think I should have kept. But I know it's in great hands. Also Sam if you're going to York in October I would like to spend more time with you, and talk trains.

Thanks, Alex
