39 months is a long time to be without an operational layout. However, that is exactly the situation I found myself in when the Lehigh Valley Hirailers decided to end their displays in 2019. I used a lot of the modules for my home layout since they were modules I built. No more displays meant the modules were now surplus. This gave me the opportunity to build something that would be a better fit in the room I have available. So the modules left and a new layout was designed. After a lot of hard work, some missteps and other tribulations, and helpful ideas from this Forum, I am now able to say I can once again run trains! Full disclosure: I installed a temporary bridge and spiked the non-manual switches.  And the yard is not installed. All this means I have a LOT of work ahead of me! But I least I can run some trains.

Congrats Chris - great to see those trains running again. Nice job of syncing the diesel and steamer around the loop. Pretty close speed match, with the steamer gaining a little from being on the inside track.

I was a little puzzled with the opening bridge scene, with the diesel in the lead and hearing steam sounds. Sounds revealed a few seconds later to be coming from the steamer, which was not visible initially. Nonetheless a fun video!

Nice layout with some interesting twists along the route. Can't wait to see more as some scenery takes shape and you complete the yard area.

Chris, what railroad is represented here?  I cannot read the logo well enough.

The Lehigh Valley Hirailers still exist. But we are not displaying.

Both trains in the video are New York Ontario and Western. The steam powered train is in Mountaineer colors. Both are MTH Railking sets. They look really great on the O72/O80 curves. I went with this size curves so I can run most of the “big” stuff. I doubt I can run a BB without sideswiping a train on an adjacent curve.
