Was reading through the back issues of OGR and saw these little engines. Anyone have one? Are they pretty good runners? We primarily run traditional on O-27 so I thought these may be perfect. for us.

Also, any of the forum sponsors have them? Either individual or in the set? I browsed through a few but didn't find any of them.

Thanks for any help or feedback.

I've got several of them. They are very small and look great with Marx 3/16" scale cars or even with Marx 6" cars. They run great and smoke great, too. They sit a little nose high, but some shims under the cab will fix that.

One of mine had an E-unit failure and no one could fix it. The E-unit is somehow integrated with the smoke unit, or so the repairman said.

There were some at York that had tender trucks suffering from zinc rot, so check that out before you buy.

I recommend them.

I agree.  I have three.  They also go well with prewar American Flyer 3/16" O gauge.  The e-unit and smoke and sound are all part of the same unit.  I did the audio editing for the whistle but did not design the boards; wish I could help on that.

Public Delivery Track has a number of Atlas Industrial Rail products listed, including sets with the 4-4-2s. Some sets are listed without track and transformer. I purchased from Beth about two years ago, and, at the time, she said she had some engines in separate sale packaging. Her email address is on the "About Us" page.
