The set up I have goes from the basement to under the Christmas tree each year so wiring from below wouldn’t work when I move it upstairs each holiday season.  But, to your point, a permanent layout could easily run the two wires through a hole directly under the Fasttrack.  Or, another option would be to simply run the two wires out through a small hole on the side of the Fasttrack with the plug connection well off the layout.  I used 14 gauge wire and for the side plug option, was able to shape out an appropriate opening with a Dremel tool.  Afterwards, a little scenery (eg lichen) easily hides the side plug.
