Inexpensive wireless remote controller for model railroads

This is an inexpensive controller that is used to trip a 12vdc circuit.  It is used as part of an emergency stop circuit for my model railroad. The controller uses a FOB to activate the control circuit that is housed in a small power distribution box. Activating the button on the FOB trips the emergency stop circuit (not shown). The controller is used in momentary contact mode. The wireless controller shown was purchased on EBAY for $4.41 with free shipping.

Note:  The distribution box also includes a fuse and LED power indicator. This same wireless controller module could also be used to switch power to an operating accessory or lighting. The module is powered from 12VDC.

The relay module can be set to toggle mode or momentary operation mode.  Toggle means each button press toggles the relay on and off.  Momentary means the relay is on as long as the button is held.   If installing in rolling stock for remote activation, each mode has its applications.  For a few dollars more you can get fobs with more buttons and relay modules with ability to decode addressing so you can independently (or simultaneously) activate multiple remote relays.
