Okay,
So I have a ElectricRR DC commander and Railsounds commander board that I have to install in an MTH Ives/Dorfan 1134 Standard Gauge steamer. The original PS2 boards went up in smoke on the previous owner who converted it to a straight bridge rectifier. The smoke unit is still there and works.
My questions are a couple:
1. Can I use any small magnet to trigger the chuffer? Since the tach wheel is still there I thought of using this with a magnet to trigger the chuffs.
2. Can I use same chuff signal to chuff the smoke unit or what else do I need?
3. How much of an antenna do I need since this thing is all metal. Can I run the antenna wire inside the cab area or would insulating a hand rail from the cotter pins using small amounts of shrink tubing be better?
Any advice is much appreciated. I have done several TMCC installs in the past but this one is a first for me.
