This is from the Steve Sloan collection. It is an Amtrak passenger train at the Santa Clara, CA, station with an NS locomotive on the point! Matt

UP 1988, the Katy Heritage engine, was the power for one of the Talgo trains in the NW. the Rio Grade one was lead power on a CZ once.
I'm thinking one of the best cases would have been the 614 I mean 614T pulling Amtraks "Cardinal" back in 1985. After the coal drags were completed they needed to get some high speed data for the Ace 3000 project so the 614T handled the train from Huntington to Hinton and maintained the schedule quite nicely.
I love seeing freight locos on passenger trains! What is the usual purpose for this?

Problems with the Amtrak unit, so the host railroad quickly has to add SOMETHING in order to keep the passenger train moving, as well as get the darned thing out of the way.
But that SSW GP60 looks as if it had issues itself.
