Interiors for Williams Coaches

I printed some interiors for Williams coaches (bye-bye silhouettes!). I'd created some previously by printing seats and gluing them to styrene sheets, and fashioned the bulkheads and corridors from styrene, but this is much easier.

No reason to print bathroom detail that'll never be seen, just enough corridor so it looks like there's a corridor at the ends of the car. This is printed in 2 pieces, which join together (interlocking tabs) where the central posts are. The floor centers are raised 1/8" from the edges to allow wiring to run underneath. The "bathroom" area will be used for lighting electronics and connectors to the LED strips in the roof. Keeping the bathroom windows, adding acetate windows along the rest. Shown here printed and cured, but not yet painted. Both pieces print at one time, so it's about a 4 hour print job per car. Seating layouts for other type cars can easily be put together and printed if desired.

Are these for the Williams aluminum coaches ?

Will they also fit into the Lionel aluminum coaches from the 1980s & 1990s ?

Can you also make interiors for the Vista Dome cars from Williams & Lionel ?

Any plans for sleeper & diner interiors ?

I have a large fleet of 15” (60’ Scale) aluminum Zephyr cars from Lionel, Williams, Weaver, & MTH.  

I also have some 18” (70’ Scale) Aluminum Zephyr cars from MTH.

My long-term plan is to add detailed interiors with tinted widows & figures.  

Right now I am in the middle of having epoxy sealing of the walls & floor of my basement and the installation of lighting & electrical outlets.

Next is track & wiring for installation on my modules.  

So hopefully I can start my Zephyr Interior project next year.

I am definitely interested in your interiors if you are taking orders !!!

I think they'll fit the Williams 18" plastic heavyweight coaches, but I'd have to dig one out of storage and open it up to confirm. These fit the 18" plastic streamline coaches. At the moment, I'm not sure if they'll fit anything else, and I don't have any other Williams cars on hand to check. At the moment, I'm only making them for my personal use, though I may consider commercial options in the future. Unfortunately such a commercial announcement would probably be in violation of the forum TOS.

Would you be able to post exact width and length dimensions?  People with other cars may be able to see if they fit.  I have some Lionel Santa Fe aluminum cars (19176-19179) I can check.  Two of them would be candidates.

If you do decide not to make these for sale, would you post the files for those who have printers?  I have many silhouette aluminum Lionel streamlined candidates.

This is a great idea. I've been thinking about doing something similar for my Williams 20" superliners. If you're not interested in going the commercial route and selling these, I'm sure many folks would appreciate if you submitted them to the 3D printing repository here on the forum. A writeup describing how you designed them would be an interesting read as well!

I thought this was fascinating:   88 coach seats [ = commuter density ] in a 10-6 sleeper body shell -- similar to, say, NJT's 5419-5422, ex PC converted from N&W Budd 10-6's.  Was this intentional ?

No. Box simply said "2 Streamline Passenger Car Add-On Pennsylvania RR Congressional" (which is odd, as both cars are labeled "Broadway Limited" on their nameplates). I'm guessing Williams wasn't exactly big on prototypical correctness. Of course, with silhouettes, it really doesn't matter. And I believe the Congressional didn't have any sleepers (unless they were through-cars destined for another train). I just took the space available and added seats as the windows allowed. Windows were too big for 1 seat per window, so they got 2.
