I've searched the forum and have found posts on repairing the split helix gears. I've tried the repair but the results are unsatisfactory. I know Lionel no longer makes the gear. Does anyone make gears that could be used to replace these? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff Kane of The Train Tender carries a reproduction gear made out of brass. Picked up one from him at this past York. Easy to install and a perfect match.

This is good news! Glad someone asked this as I have two of these with split gears and was on the verge of buying a 3D printer just to make them.
I just wanted to say thanks for the help. I contacted Jeff and he had the small gear in stock. My crane is now up and running again. Jeff is a pleasure to work with.
