Hey guys. I just received my new MTH Twin Stacks. They arrived in great condition with only one or two slightly bent handrails. A test run was in order. I added some Lionel Husky Stacks and some Atlas Flats. I also included a few “stills” of the new MTH cars.

Enjoy the videos and pics.

I switched out the included CSX containers with Atlas containers.  It made it much more colorful...perhaps too colorful?

Anthony, I was just looking at it. I agree, the MTH containers included are a little dull. A little color could help. I have a bunch of Atlas containers. I will need to break them out. Thanks for the suggestion.

The one thing that really stands out with the MTH containers when mixed with the Atlas containers is the smoothness of the sides compared to the corrugation on the Atlas containers.  I actually find the juxtaposition jarring.  Unfortunately, all the 48' containers I have are smooth sided.

Also, when watching your video, I was thinking how nice it would be to have the freight sounds with the twin stacks.  Unfortunately, the Lionel FS boxcar guts don't lend themselves well to these Intermodal container transports.

I'm curious, how many 48' husky stacks do you have?

Anthony…last count I think was 32. I also have 4 more in that CSX set from a number of years ago. Most of them are on shelves or storage tracks.

Are you referring to the Lionel CSX freight set with the SD 40-2 engine?  That was the first item I purchased two years ago when plunging back into the O scale foray.  I have 12 of the CSX Lionel Husky Stacks (one duplicate), 5 of the new TTX logo Lionel HS's (one duplicate), 4 of the BNSF Lionel HS's, and 12+ of the MTH 48' HS's mostly in TTX.  I've been trying to obtain some of the Atlas Gunderson Maxi-IV sets as of late. Yes Anthony, that is the one. Lionel #31760 from 2008.

I like Intermodal equipment. This MTH set is my first one from MTH. Everything else is either Lionel or Atlas.

Sitting under the layout are 5 sets of Atlas Gunderson cars and over 100 containers.

Donald - You don't happen to have any TTX Atlas Gunderson Maxi-IV sets you want to part with?  I was modeling the CSX Intermodal crane(s) in Baltimore.  I got the "feet" modeled in OpenSCAD from taking measurements from photos and that's as far as I got.  I have yet to enter my containers in my spreadsheet so I don't have an exact count but I recently ordered 6 more Atlas 40' containers and I'm looking at buying some more MSC today.  I've recently turned my attention to the CSX Queensgate Switch Tower.  I have the initial measurement I need to translate it into a model but I've been preempted by another very interesting Intermodal task that I staying mum on for the time being.

@3rail (Donald) - You can always leave them to me in your Will   FYI: I got my first Atlas Maxi-IV Gunderson set today.  It's an AOK, so nothing to get excited about.  I also have 6 53' Atlas HUB and CSX containers to put in it as well.  The well cars must be die cast as the box is very heavy.  I'm not sure I'll be able to duplicate them either given the complexity of the detail but it's probably worth a shot.
