Gentle Forum Members!

The Railroad Museum of Long Island (RMLI) is pleased to announce the seventeenth in our series of Lionel Traditional O Gauge commemorative cars.  Every historic train that travels the country needs a place for its crew members to stay, clean up and “have beans!”  Please welcome our Lionel G-16 Crew Car to complete your train!

SKU 6-58227  The “G-16 Crew Car”

In 2015 we continue to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Allan Herschell, G-16 LIRR NY World’s Fair Park Train with this handsome bunk car.  It features die-cast metal sprung trucks, operating couplers, interior illumination, applicable side light bezels and a smoke jack.

Funds raised from the sale of this car go toward operation of the Museum, including education/restoration programs, exhibits, collections and the Historic Lionel Layout.  For more information about our Lionel Collectible Car Program please visit our website, www.rmli.org or download an order form at http://www.jameswerner.net/rml...w_Car_Order_Form.pdf

At this time, we are sold-out of all the G-16 Operating Exhibit Cars of this three car series.  Just a few G-16 Tool Cars remain unclaimed.

Gentle Forum members,

Today in the UPS truck, we received our prototype decorated model of the G-16 Crew Car, Lionel SKU 6-58227.  From this sample we determine if the factory has everything just right for mass production.  Five hundred cars will be produced.

The Committee is again very happy with the detail and artwork of the Lionel builders.  Check out the wood sided and wood sheathed roof detail of the reefer body.  The artwork is properly stressed to appear “weathered” on a recycled reefer boxcar put into “camp car” service.

Surprisingly, this car is coming from the factory with the smokejack and side lamps installed.  I thanked Lionel for this as it eliminates the chance of lost parts in shipping.  The yellow Pennsy Bunk Car SKU 6-5724 I have in my collection had “owner applied” smokejack and side lamps!

Ordering of this unique collectible car continues through March 20, 2015.  Please visit www.rmli.org to download an order form!

Thanks for reading!

Thank you Lenny!

We've received word that the container holding the G-16 Tool Cars has arrived at the Port of Charleston, SC from China!!  A much shorter transit time to Concord, NC than from the west coast and we're avoiding any delay due to labor negotiations on the docks out there.  I am optimistic that we will have the G-16 Tool Car to our members by Easter!

Thanks again,

Don
