Looks just as bad as the stuff painted by the Rock Island, back in the old days.
Up side: Easy masking if you're painting a model
Down side: No character to the paint job at all.
Would have had WAY more character if they had done a variant of the one on the old carbody units.
Can't decide. I kind of like it? I think it's one of those things, the longer you look at it the more it will grow on you. Thanks for sharing this, Frank!

I like it, but then Iam a ROCK ISLAND fan. Scratch that!
Iam ROCK ISLAND crazy!! Thanks for posting the pic!
I do agree with Matt too, That paint scheme was a true classic!
+2 for Matt's view.
It would look better on a day with full sunshine.

Not sure. I think that the other Heritage Unit looks way better, but it looks OK, I guess.
Still, give me a FEC ES44 any day of the week.
I think one of the biggest reasons it looks weird is the fact part of the Iowa Interstate wording is sitting on two different areas and to me looks extremely weird.

I agree the other unit looks a lot better, but at least they didn't use that ugly blue.
I think if they use white letters look better than yellow. Rock Island used white letters.
I could do without it. It just looks wrong for some reason.
Not really a very attractive scheme. Their 1st paint scheme was much better.
I guess it started out as a good idea but the lettering does not look right on an ES44. Then again I didn't like it when the Rock Island had it either.

Looks like a Rose Bowl jersey.
I like it! I hope the next heritage unit is RI Blue
Great looking engines, thanks.
Pausing for a moment, with my hand over my heart.
