Admit to being unfamiliar with some of the newer technology so please pardon my ignorance here. Have acquired my first locomotive with Bluetooth and am amazed that I am able to control it with just my iphone and the Lionchief app with power to the track. Is there an add-on kit to retrofit Bluetooth to older command motive power?

There is no add-on for BT that I'm aware of. It certainly would not be a walk in the park to do such an add-on. I'm sure that the train companies have no interest in it, they want to sell you the new BT equipped stuff!
Makes sense John. Was hoping some enterprising young electronics wizard (tech fella) might have an idea to develop one for sale...
Lionel does have a separate BT board that was first used with RCMD Legacy boards before the introduction of the LCP boards. It appears to be the same module used with the newer Lionchief boards with Bluetooth. No idea how it interfaces with those boards though. Unlikely it could be used with either TMCC of PS2/3.

From Bruk's excellent Legacy document files. The BT board used in the Legacy locomotives uses the Legacy serial data to transmit and receive commands, it's not going to work for TMCC. I suspect the LC use of the board is programmed for some serial protocol, I have no idea what is used.
Bottom like is these are programmed specific to the application and retrofitting them to TMCC would require a lot of work at a minimum, if it could be done at all.
