TOUCHY, quirky, easy to confuse, more subject to dirty track etc etc...  I just recently installed Legacy (1.3) and purchased my first 3 Legacy locos after not purchasing any trains for 5 or 6 years. I like the extreme slow speeds and sound etc. But it seems like they are touchy. Great features but touchy. My TMCC loco's aren't that way and I have been using TMCC since the very first year it came out. I still  have a Burlington F3 I can't straighten out and will be sending back to lionel. So has this been your experience also?

Well, I've always expected it would be, and have an impression the answer is yes from the experience of friends.  But turthfully I have no first-hand proof of this because I firmly believe this, and thus use this "fact" frequently as just one more excuse to only use the only control system I will ever use: the one that runs all trains from all manufacturers - conventional.

BTW - I was wavering - thinking of getting a Legacy system, but see my review of a ZW-L - with it I see little reason to now.

I have 2 Legacy Engines and one on the way from TrainWorld as I write, both engines had to be repaired for smoke problems right out of the box practically, and of course there is the Legacy Shay problem lol! But DCS is been known to be quirky also to some folks, both are fun to play with, and the emphasis is on play with lol!

Make sure the gears are lubed.

There is a bit of a learning curve as with all systems, but I have had no problems with the Legacy system or Legacy locos. Works as advertised.

Now I have had two CAB2's die on me for absolutely no reason - but's that's a different story. The Lionel Service Center was kind enough to replace them at no charge so I really can't complain.

Ken

For example, Here are problems I am experiencing which has never occurred under TMCC.

I stop an engine.  Shut down and power off,go in the other room.  Come back power up track and then engine. Engine starts up but won't move. Place TMCC engine in the exact spot power still on and tMCC engine drives away no problem. Scrub track in that exact spot Legacy engine goes. Pushing buttons to fast is another problem. Slow down and things work properly. Engine stopping out of nowhere.(Members have told me this may be due to my transformer. May need a new chip which I have ordered).

I would like to know if the original poster used a CAB-1 TMCC? If so then that might explain how he feels using the new Legacy remote. For instance if the momentum setting is set to react quickly he might be feeling that it is touchy along with the controls for the features and direction do have different buttons and the feeling is different. It just takes getting used to and once there will not go back.
