About a month 1/2 ago I posted about a problem with a  LionChief AA. The problem being that the cab light didn’t light in the dummy unit, and when the engine was in reverse, the headlight didn’t light in the dummy unit. In addition to that when I tried to uncouple and press the rear uncoupler, I heard the noise, but the couple never opened. Sseveral gentlemen on the forum encouraged me to send it back to Lionel on Warranty. I did so and I got an email telling me that they changed the board and they sent it back to me. It was all pretty quick. I was amazed that it was repaired so quickly. However, when I put it back on the track I had the same situation .I called up and asked for the service manager. He called me back. I explained the problem to him. He told me to call back in and send it back. The second time it took a while before I got a notice they received it. I never got a notice that it was repaired. Tthen I got a notice that it was coming back . It came back today. The packing was disheveled.  I had packed it wrapped in tissue paper in a box. It just fit the engine and then packed it in another box. It was surrounded by packing. When  It came back,  The inside box I used was laying open. The engine was sticking out of Amazon envelope that didn’t completely fit. I use those padded envelopes as cushioning around the wrapped item. When I pulled the engine out of the bag I found that one of the ornamental horns was missing. I put it back on the track and I got the same results. So the question is; is it me? Here is what I do, I have the AA engine on the track and have the engine going forward, when I hit the reverse button; there is no light showing in the  in the dummy unit. When I applied power, there’s no headlight in the dummy unit. When I try to uncouple it makes the sound but the couple does not open. I just was going to call lionel and found out that they close half-day on Friday. So I just want to check; using the legacy controller and just using the reverse button and the throttle wheel and then the uncoupling button I believe that’s all I need to do to make it operate correctly. So that’s why I’m asking you if I am doing something wrong,.

Thanking you for your time .

Some thoughts.  Read loco's manual and see if there are any specific instructions for using the Legacy Cab-2.  Does the engine need to be entered in TMCC mode in the remote?  Presumably the locos need to be connected correctly for lighting to work properly but I expect you are already doing that (powered A forward, dummy A backward).  In addition to the app, if you have the Universal Remote, see if that works properly too.  I'm guessing that the Legacy control setting is the issue here.

Thank you both for your suggestions on my LC 2 AA. You were correct. Running with the LC APP the functions that I thought weren’t working; worked fine. I did see in the manual that the Legacy II could be configured as Cab 1. or TMCC; but the next page it stated that it must be configured as TMCC. for all functions to work.
I’ll try that on my next trip up to the train room.
While using the LC App I couldn’t find a button for shutting down. I disconnected the App and woke up the legacy and shut it down that way. Now I’m wondering, does the legacy have to be completely off when using the app?

Glad you got it to work. I have used both the LC app and Cab-1L simultaneously with no issues.
